Coconut Oil Craze: Dietitian's guide to selecting healthy coconut oil

Coconut oil is continuously growing in popularity and Ghanaians are gradually embracing the goodness of this “super oil”. Naturalist, “Fro lovers”, foodies not forgetting the staunch health conscious folks constantly sing the praise of  Coconut oil in their journey. There is never a day I scroll through my social media pages without coming across a coconut oil related recipe or DIY formula.

This article is dedicated to the healthy living lovers out there  who have obliviously jumped unto the coconut oil wagon without clearly understanding the types of coconut oil on the market and which options are truly "healthy".

Kpawumo Childrens Home, Tamale

Hi!  I have been MIA for a while now (A Million apologies). I got an opportunity to join a group of friends (Dietitians) : Brittany Wilson, Terrie Jorgeson, Kena Ludeman to Tamale for a few charity outreaches! A very humbling experience. This was made possible by an incredible humanitarian, Prince Mahama, founder of Savannah Kids Education Project (SKEP) a project, founded with the aim to give underprivileged children in the north of Ghana the possibility to follow primary and secondary education .

Rdsali at Accra Goods Market

Accra Goods Market is an open air market hosting a variety of food, fashion and design vendors. The event usually draws a large crowd with people coming all walks of life. Not only is it a great place to cool off on a hot Ghanaian afternoon, it is also an avenue to network with like-minded entrepreneurs and harness some inspiration.
The first fair of this year took place on the 25th of May, African union holiday, Rdsali and the team were there to sell healthy fruit cocktails as well as some sandwiches. Our most important mission was to spread the word on how easy & realistic healthy eating actually is.
